At the height of the Internet’s glory days, entrepreneurs would gladly boast about the millions of dollars they raised for their businesses. Nowadays, the cool kids at the tables talk about how little money they're spending. Bootstrapping as a funding strategy has quickly grown popular in today’s Web 2.0 community with 90 percent of all technology based companies starting out using this funding model. Some keep it going longer than others and are ultimately rewarded with companies that are not beholden to venture capitalists.

As a start-up, bootstrapping brings both freedom and limitations: the freedom to follow your own vision with the monetary limitations in building and promoting your company on your own. Many would argue that bootstrapping a start-up is essentially about using creativity rather than cash to spread the word about what you’re doing.

This panel consists of both highly experienced and successful entrepreneurs, who will share their different bootstrapping stories. You will get an understanding of different bootstrapping strategies, including why you might bootstrap from beginning to end or transition to the VC funding model during your growth.

Topics covered will include:

• What to think about before deciding to bootstrap
• When to stop bootstrapping
• How far is too far
• Innovative ways of saving money for your company
